In Illustrator I developed the design for my paperbox. Many questions were open when I entered FabLab-Groningen:
- Will the shape be precise enough to receive the function I need for my customer?
- What material will fit to be strong enough later on?
First of all Roland from FabLab-Groningen supported me by transforming the file to Coreldraw. He gave me an introduction to use the lasercutter, how to change speed and energylevel. Without knowing anything about this technology I entered the Lab. Soon I was able to check out the different materials I brought with me.
It wasdifficult to engrave both sides of the papersheet. But we found a solution to set markers. The result was a very precise engraving with a perfect function later on. After some tests I got a feeling what more I can do with the lasercutter in the future.
